We are ecstatic we found this school! Our 9th grader visited Academy Schools last year and we just KNEW we needed to get him in. It is different than any other school we have visited.
We sold our little farm in eastern WA and made the move over here so that he could attend ... and even though our expectations were quite high, they have been exceeded weeks into the school year!
The school is not perfect, they will be the first to admit that, but it is obvious that the entire staff cares very deeply for the students.
Our son struggles with social anxiety and other issues, which is compounded by some PTSD, because of how badly he has been treated in other schools. The staff has been so gentle with him and has handled his panic attacks better than we have handled them ourselves. Moving and starting a new school is hard, so I believe he was at his worst when we he started this year, but none of the staff, or the other students, made him (or us) feel like a burden.
He is learning again! It has been so long since he has been calm enough to learn. Since the class sizes are so small, the teachers are able to customize the curriculum to meet the students right were they are.
The Teachers are AMAZING! Two of his teacher’s have doctorates’ and we can tell they choose to teach at Academy School’s because they love the school and it’s vision.
Our son says the school is "amazing", and thanked us for the sacrifices we had to make to get him there.
I have a son who struggled with the public school system since pre-K. During the tour to academic school about two years ago, I knew this was the place where my child belonged. The teachers are fantastic, always smiling and ready to assist. It has made my Job easier as parent. Such a wonderful school! The class size is small. My child has grown not only academically, but also gained self-confidence. The friends that he's establishing as he moves each year is awesome. The teachers have all been so loving and nurturing. I am extremely happy with this school.
