At Academy Schools, we work closely with parents through the admission process to ensure the School is a good fit for the child and the family. We understand by choosing an independent school you are making a significant financial investment in your child’s future.

Academy Schools is a non-religious, non-profit, and independent school. We do not discriminate based on: race, religion, gender, or ethnicity. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, as long as we have space available in a particular class.

Admission Process

The admission process at Academy Schools is designed to acquaint parents and their children with the education philosophy and superior learning opportunities available at Academy Schools. We want to ensure the School is a good fit for the child and the family. The process functions on a rolling basis.

Please read below for information about the admission process:

  1. Contact Mrs. Cynthia Huber at (206) 588-0860 to schedule a visit where parents meet the teachers and staff, as well as observe classes during their regular daily routine. Questions are answered and an enrollment packet is provided.

  2. Complete and submit an application with a $100 non-refundable application fee. Prior student records are released to Academy Schools.

  3. Schedule a student visit. For Pre-K & Kindergarten students, the visit may be a ½ day. For all other grades, school visits are a full academic day. A $150 screening fee is due upon the scheduled visit. The student comes to school with pencil, paper, snack and (for older students) a lunch. All visitors will be assigned a ‘buddy’ to help familiarize incoming students with our school and its routine. During the visit, teachers collect observation and/or testing data, depending on the age of the child.

  4. Following the student visit, the Admissions Committee meets to review all testing, teacher notes, and the student’s previous file, if applicable, and makes a recommendation either for or against enrollment.

  5. Parents will be notified within two weeks on the committee’s enrollment decision and receive a contract and an e-copy of the student-parent handbook. These documents are signed and returned along with a $300 deposit and any other related fees.

  6. Upon receipt of the signed contract and deposit, a countersigned copy of the contract and welcome letter will be sent to the parents. A member of our staff will be in touch to provide answers to questions and offer any other help acquainting the newly enrolled family with the Academy Schools!

Thank you for considering Academy Schools for your child. We accept applications on a space available basis throughout the year. Complete and submit an application with a $100 non-refundable application fee. Prior student records are released to Academy Schools.

Schedule a School Visit

We welcome new students and their families to our school. Enrollment occurs year-round. Parents are invited to contact Mrs. Cynthia Huber at 206-588-0860 or email at: Business@academyschools.org to schedule a school visit, tour the facility, meet the staff, and have your questions answered.

After parents visit, a school visit for their child is scheduled through Mrs. Huber. Depending upon student’s age and grade level, visitation may be either half day or full day. Any prior student records are requested and reviewed by the admission staff. Following student visit, admissions staff will meet with teachers to discuss student, test, and screening results. Student placement and desired program needs are also addressed at this time. Following review of the above information a recommendation is made regarding issuance of an enrollment contract. Parents will be notified within two weeks of the Admissions committee enrollment decision. If student is accepted, a contract will be issued. Upon receipt of the enrollment contract, parents will receive the parent-student handbook which must be reviewed and approved along with signed contracts. Contract and deposit plus related fees are to be paid as indicated in the enrollment letter. Incoming families will also be contacted by a current school parent to answer any questions you may have. Additional fees are charged for outside school activities and van transportation. A schedule of these fees will also be available for incoming students and visitors.

Application Fee = $100 (non-refundable, must accompany application)
Registration and Screening Fee = $150 (non-refundable, due on day of student trial visit)

Enrollment Deposit = $300 This amount will be applied toward the annual tuition. (non-refundable, due with Contract)
