Upper School Curriculum

Cummings School

Personalized curriculum to meet the needs of each student

We have both a Middle School and High School program. The Upper School curriculum is aligned with Washington State Grade Level Standards and Content Guidelines.  Each student receives year-long instruction in Science, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Drama, Music, Art, and Foreign Language, Desktop Publishing and Journalism, Study Skills, Citizenship and Service Learning.  Upper School students participate in a three-day End of Year Trip that focuses on a selected curriculum area.  This focus of this year’s trip will be Earth Science for Middle School and Government for High School.

In all areas of our curriculum, developmentally appropriate materials and methods are used. Students constantly apply skills learned in one subject to interdisciplinary projects. In group lessons we utilize active, multi-sensory methods to reach as many students as possible. Programs are personalized to meet the needs of the students.
