Wes Weddell: Music Teacher –
Wes Weddell’s love for music dates to his gradeschool days as a Suzuki violin dropout.  The Seattle singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, and audio odd-jobber is a passionate advocate for original music and live performance, appearing regularly in many capacities on stages and in recordings around the region and beyond.  As a teacher, he has guided hundreds of students of all ages and abilities since 2001 in private lessons, group classes, library programs, and school visits.  Between engagements, Weddell also runs Puget’s Sound Productions, a community live-music non-profit in the Seattle area.  His latest CD features literature-inspired songs from his work with The Bushwick Book Club Seattle, of which he is also a board member. Bruce McIntyre, M.A. in Fine Arts Education, Kean University, B.A. Fine Arts, Lafayette College.  Mr. McIntyre is a professional artist, educator, motivator and manager with 11 years of experience in student recruitment and advising including outreach to students, 6 years of experience providing college level instruction, and 20 years of experience tracking data and processes to improve systems. HaroleneHarolene Swenson: Creative Learning Center – Ms. Swenson facilitates student learning in both individual and small group settings.  Ms. Swenson has over 20 years experience designing life-skills programs for children and adults, helping people reach their goals, as well as assisting in implementation and design of adaptive curriculum. Currently, she is in the process of finishing her curriculum requirements in order to obtain her Special Education degree. She also tutors after school. {This email is obscured. Jessica Lawrence: Social & Emotional Learning Specialist – Mrs. Lawrence is a veteran special education teacher who holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist.  She has taught special education in self-contained, blended, and inclusive settings in public school districts in Washington and Wisconsin.  During these experiences, she also taught autism-focused programs in three districts. She has presented workshops to audiences including parents, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, church groups, and community daycare and preschool providers.

For the past three years, Mrs. Lawrence has worked as a consultant with schools (both private and public) and families to ensure appropriate educational programming for students demonstrating social learning differences. Beginning in 2015, she joined Tacoma Outdoor Ability Development (TOAD) School, an all-outdoor parent-child early education program, and also completed Level II Forest Kindergarten Teacher Training at Cedarsong Nature School. Jessica is passionate about supporting students, families and teachers as they develop the skills they need to engage and participate in their communities, and is delighted to join the team of top-notch professionals at Academy Schools.
